United Nations Day
24 October: A Symbol of Hope for Global Unity
United Nations Day, celebrated annually on 24 October, commemorates the anniversary of the UN Charter’s entry into force in 1945. On this day, the United Nations was officially established following the ratification of the Charter by a majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council.
The United Nations stands as a unique global institution, unmatched in its legitimacy, convening power, and influence on global norms. No other international organization inspires hope for a better world or holds the capacity to shape the future we desire. In today’s world, the need for nations to come together and uphold the promise of unity has rarely been more urgent.
United Nations Day serves as an opportunity each year to highlight our shared agenda and reaffirm the UN Charter’s purposes and principles, which have guided the organization for the past 79 years.
